Committee for Hungarikums

The institution of the Committee for Hungarikums was established on the 18th of October in 2012, by the Act XXX of 2012 on Hungarian national values and Hungarikums.

 The committee’s main role is to protect, maintain and make widely popular the national- and outstanding national values, furthermore the Hungarikums.

Members of the committee have to be delegated by the Hungarian Parliament, the Hungarian Standing Conference, the ministries of Hungary, the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, the Hungarian Academy of Arts, the chairman of the National Office for Intellectual Property. The chairman of the committee is the minister in charge of agriculture.

●    István Simicskó - delegated member by the Hungarian Parliament
●    Zoltán Magyar - delegated member by the Hungarian Parliament
●    Szimeon Varga - delegated member by the Hungarian Parliament
●    Attila Paládi-Kovács - delegated member by the Hungarian Academy of Sciences
●    József Zelnik - delegated memeber by the Hungarian Academy of Arts
●    Viktor Luszcz Dr. - delegated member by the chairman of the National Office for Intellectual Property
●    Zsolt Csampa - delegated member by the minister in charge of municipalities
●    Judit Szabó Pirityiné - delegated member by the minister in charge of national politics
●    János Halász - delegated member by the minister in charge of culture and education
●    Mariann Vízkelety Dr. - delegated member by the minister in charge of justice
●    Zsolt Németh V. - delegated member by the minister in charge of agriculture and enviromental protection
●    Tibor Gajda Dr.- delegated member by the minister in charge of tourism
●    Veronika Máté - delegated member by the minister in charge of utilization of EU funds and the protection of cultural heritage
●    Emese Boros dr. - delegated member by the minister in charge of foreign affairs and trade
●    Balázs Károly Solymár dr. - delegated member by the minister in charge of information technology
●    Tamás Vargha - delegated member by the minister in charge of defence
●    András Mester - delegated member by the Hungarian Standing Conference
●    Csilla Hegedüs - delegated member by the Hungarian Standing Conference
●    Zoltán Salamon - delegated member by the Hungarian Permanent Conference

Sectorial committees:
The Committee for Hungarikums’ work is supported by professional, sectorial committees.
The sectorial committees have a consultative, advisory and decision-supporting role. They can prejudge and suggest a recommended value to be submitted to the Collection of Hungarikums or the Repository of Hungarian Values by the Committee for Hungarikums, and have the right to bring the petitioner’s attention to supplement or change the recommendation’s content.

Within 8 sectors there are 6+1 sectorial committees:
●    Committee for Agriculture and Food Industry
●    Committee for Health and Lifestyle
●    Committee for Natural and Built Environment
●    Committee for Industrial and Technological Solutions
●    Committee for Cultural heritage
●    Committee for Sport, Tourism and Hospitality
+1   Committee for Hungarikum Trademark
A sectorial committee has to have at least 10 members and their delegations are valid for 5 years. Professionals in the fields of public administration, museums and archives, mayors, professors, researchers, artists, culinary experts and sportsmen can be found in the committees.
