Hungarian Dulcimer

Short description:

The dulcimer is a stringed instrument played with two light hammers and belongs to the cither-kinds. It has a trapezoidal shape with diatonic or chromatic tuned metal strings stretched across its top. József Vencel Schonda and his son Lajos Bohák developed the dulcimer further by expanding the instrument and fitting it up with a vibration damper. At present the Hungarian dulcimer is one of the most important instruments of gypsy orchestras.
