Traditional Hungarian folk song
To Hungarian people the Hungarian songs are as important as chansons to the French, the Napolitano songs to the Italians or the polka to the Poles. The Hungarian songs are part of our national identity, our musical language, an organic part of our traditions. The rhythm of the Hungarian songs stems from the dance, from which it brings the ancient, intuitive moves, which are combined with the harmony of our language. The songs had a huge impact on the cultural and social life of the turn of the century and contributed to the slow but definite progress with which Hungarian words removed all foreign words from the general usage. These days foreigners visiting Hungary are also pleased to listen to them.
